Dynamite causes explosion at Oak Forest apartment building: Report

OAK FOREST (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Police and federal authorities are investigating some type of an explosion at an apartment complex in the south suburbs Tuesday night.

It happened around 8 p.m. near 160th and Shadow Creek Drive in Oak Forest. ABC-7 reported police responded to a fire inside a single-story apartment building, and a neighbor found two sticks of dynamite outside.

The blast ripped a hole in the ceiling of one of the units, exposed insulation and burned some of the belongings inside.

Witnesses said two people were covered in blood when they walked out of the building.

We’re awaiting information from Oak Forest police on the possible cause, extent of the damages and injuries.
