CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The family of a transgender Chicago woman who disappeared in the Bahamas is now offering a reward for information.
The family of Taylor Casey is offering $10,000 for any information on her disappearance.
Casey was last seen June 19 while on a month-long yoga retreat. She had stopped showing up for classes, and her cellphone was later found in the ocean.
Casey's family has said they believe Bahamas authorities haven't been taking the case seriously because she's a Black transgender woman, and they've asked the FBI to take over the search from the authorities in the Bahamas.
Colette Seymore, Casey’s mother, has claimed Bahamas police continue to withhold information about the case.
“Justice needs to be served or done in this case as to why Taylor goes for a vacation to a yoga retreat to learn yoga and just vanishes in midair,” Seymore said.
According to Seymore, the fundraiser called "Find Taylor Casey" has raised tens of thousands of dollars on various social media platforms to help pay for legal services and other needs related to the family's search for answers.
