(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Siobhan Johnson, a special agent and public affairs officer for FBI Chicago, says the FBI has been tracking Gary “Lil Bird” Luellen and Javon "JaJa" Stingley.
“Prior to February 11, 2023 we know whether we believe that Stingley, Luellenn began obtaining firearms and masks, things that you would use in a typical carjacking,” Johnson said.
Then, there were two carjackings.
“We have a carjacking that occurred in February 2023. We have another one that occurred in April of 2023.”
That April 2023 carjacking happened near 126th and South Halsted streets in Chicago.
The FBI says Luellen and his co-conspirators used a gun to steal a Dodge Challenger.
Stingley is wanted in connection with the violent carjacking in South Suburban Dolton in February 2023. A Dodge Challenger was also targeted in that one. The victim's spouse and child were in the car, and no one was hurt.
“Carjackings typically aren't stand alone crimes. And just because these individuals did not injure someone during the crimes we're seeking them for, doesn't mean that the next victims will be so lucky.”
The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in these carjacking cases.
