ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Arlington Heights is hosting the largest women's jazz festival.
It's the second annual Women's Jazz Festival at local live music venue Hey Nonny and features 100 musicians over four days.
"There's a lot of great women jazz singers in town and we've got some on our program, but we really wanted to give the center stage in the festival to women instrumental players," said Chip Brooks, co-owner of Hey Nonny.
He also said that last year's event was so successful, they're bringing it back and "doing a bigger and better festival" thanks to a $30,000 dollar grant from the Live Music Society.

The event initially started with a focus on jazz musicians in the Chicago area, but this year has expanded with performers coming from New York, Milwaukee, and even Germany.
"It's getting bigger, more diverse, and more exciting," said Karuna Maddava, co-producer of the festival.
The festival will go through Sunday, and will include a jazz brunch featuring local high school musicians and a special show at the neighboring Metropolis Theater. The lineup of performances as well as information for purchasing tickets can be found here.
