CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Movies and television shows have been filming again in Chicago, and we wondered how they’re managing in a pandemic.
Near Old Irving, “Chicago Med” is back at it.
In Ravenswood, a pilot for a TV show, “Ordinary Joe,” is shooting. And a few blocks away, a Disney movie, “Christmas Again” is being filmed.
One question we had for Chicago’s Public Health Commissioner Dr. Allison Arwady: How do film crews get around the travel order that requires a two-week quarantine after travel from many states?
“There’s actually been quite a lot of work with the TV and film industries,” she said Tuesday. “As you know, there can be exemptions from the travel order, particularly where there are specific testing and other control regimens that are in place.”
A visit to both film locations in Ravenswood showed almost everyone wearing a mask or at least socially distant.
As one location manager told us, “We have to be extra careful right now.”
