CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Some Pilsen residents are waking up in a different location this morning after a fire spread to homes on their block Wednesday night.
The fire started at about 8:15 p.m. in a two-and-a-half story home that was under construction near 16th and Loomis.
The Fire Department upgraded response to the fire, with video from the scene showing bright orange flames swirling and moving to homes next door.
Isabela Vielma-Reyes told CBS-2 she feared the fire would spread to her house down the block.
“I got a pretty frantic call from dad saying that a house next to his was on fire, and I ran out to my balcony, and I am across the street from here, and I was able to see that a house three doors down was completely engulfed in flames,” Vielma-Reyes said.
The home where the fire started collapsed.
No one was injured, but residents in two homes next to it were forced out.
The fire department is investigating the cause.
