Fire forces far NW suburban daycare to temporarily close

ALGONQUIN (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - More than 100 children and staff members evacuated after a fire broke out at an Algonquin daycare center Tuesday morning.

No one was injured in the fire, which broke out around 11:45 a.m. at Kiddie Academy. Fire crews arrived after the fire alarm was activated.

Someone also called 911 and reported a fire in the south utility room of the building, and the incident was upgraded to bring additional resources to the scene.

Officials said firefighters extinguished the fire in under 10 minutes. The business sustained minor water and smoke damage  The business  though is uninhabitable.

The fire department is now investigating the cause of the fire.
