(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago firefighters have been busy – fighting two fires on the Northwest Side in the span of 12 hours – including one Monday morning.
The first fire was in an industrial building in North Austin near Bloomingdale and Central Avenue. The fire department responded before 9 p.m. and upgraded the fire to a 2-11, calling for more help.
The department said there were no injuries.
The second fire is in a home about three miles north, on Waveland near Marmora in Portage Park.
Around 5 a.m., the fire department responded to flames shooting out of a home.
The Fire Department says it started in a one and a half story home and spread to the two and a half story frame house next door.
That second house suffered extensive damage, but no one was injured – including several pets that are accounted for.
