CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A former University of Chicago student is in deep trouble, charged with hiding a bomb-making plot that sparked a dorm fire.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Arman Brunson of Massachusetts, was 19-year-old and a second-year student when an explosion erupted in his dorm room in Woodlawn Commons on the Hyde Park campus in January of 2023.
Brunson allegedly misled both university and FBI officials about the incident.
Months later, agents also found traces of explosives in his luggage and home.
Further investigations uncovered videos of Brunson discussing bomb-making and revolutionary groups, with some footage narrated in Armenian.
