(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Former NFL cornerback Buster Skrine, who played two seasons for the Bears, is wanted by police in Canada after missing a court date.

Skrine is alleged to have removed an ankle monitor and skipped a court date on Monday. He was due in court on bank fraud charges.

He’s accused of defrauding multiple banks of more than $100,000.

Over a period of about nine months, it’s alleged that he would identify himself as a former NFL player, open the account with fraudulent checks then withdraw money before those checks cleared.

Skrine was charged and arrested last year. He was granted bail last month and was scheduled to appear in court in Toronto.

Skrine played for the Bears in 2019 and 2020.  He retired from the NFL  in 2022.

His earnings over 11 years in the NFL are reported to have been about $40 million.
