(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Nearly two months ago, all Foxtrot Market locations in Chicago and across the country were abruptly closed. Now, we're hearing for the first time from the co-founder of Chicago's Foxtrot Market about the bankrupt chain's plan to re-open some stores.

Last week, the owners posted to social media, saying "A new Foxtrot with some old friends. Coming soon."

Foxtrot Market and Dom's Kitchen & Market suddenly closed in April, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and Foxtrot's assets were sold for $2.2 million in May.

Now, the Chicago-based company has announced plans to reopen some stores.

Mike LaVitola, co-founder of Foxtrot, spoke to CBS2 about what prompted the return.

“I think Foxtrot up until, you know, the really unfortunate events of a couple of months ago, was a really great tenant. We drew, you know, great traffic to the stores. And for the most part, they were happy to have us back.

“So we're excited to have a lot of great partnerships with most of our landlords here in Chicago, and with their help get open as quickly as possible.”

La Vitola says there will be about ten locations reopening in Chicago.

The first three they're announcing are in Gold coast, Old town and Fulton Market.

A full list of reopening store locations, including several in the Chicago area, will be announced at a later date. The company also plans to re-open its stores in Dallas and Austin, Texas.
