(WBBM NEWSRADO) — Frontier Airlines will resume flights in and out of Midway Airport in late April, seven years after it ceased operations there.

Frontier's vice president of network and operational design, Josh Flyr, on Tuesday said the airline will have flights linking Midway with several cities around the country.

Effective April 28, the destinations include Atlanta, Dallas, Denver, Las Vegas, the Los Angeles basin through Ontario, California, Phoenix/Sky Harbor, Tampa, Trenton, N.J. In October, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando will be added, he said.

Midway will become Frontier's main airport in Chicago, though the airline will continue to offer service between O'Hare and Orlando, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Cancun, Mexico.

Frontier hopes to expand operations at both airports, as it adds more planes to its fleet.
