CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The Chicago Fire Department has finalized funeral arrangements for two fallen fighters who died in the line of duty in consecutive days last week.

The wake for 55-year-old Lieutenant Jan Tchoryk, a 26-year member of the department, will be held on Wednesday from 3 to 9 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels in Norridge, located on Lawrence and Thatcher. A funeral mass will be held the next day, Thursday, at 10 a.m., on the Northwest Side, at St. Joseph Ukrainian Catholic Church on Cumberland and Argyle.

Tchoryk’s cause of death was determined to be hypertensive-arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. He collapsed last Wednesday  in a stairwell while climbing to a fire in a Gold Coast high-rise.

Visitation for veteran Firefighter Jermaine Pelt, killed in a house fire on the Far South Side last week, will be Thursday, beginning at 3 p.m. and lasting until 10 p.m. at Blake-Lamb Funeral home in Oak Lawn, located at 103rd and Kilpatrick. Pelt’s funeral will be Friday, at 11 a.m., on the Far South Side, at 114th and Corliss.

Jermaine Pelt, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office, died last Tuesday of smoke inhalation while battling a fire at 120th and Wallace.
