GARY, Ind. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Gary Fire Department had to call in help from neighboring cities to fight several fires Saturday night.
A dozen nearby fire departments were called in to help Gary crews fight multiple fires overnight.
Region News Service reported there were seven homes on fire in an eight-block area at one point.
The fires started around 1 a.m. and it appeared most of the structures were vacant boarded-up homes but high winds sent flames to neighboring homes.
Arson is suspected in multiple fires that burned in Gary on April 21.
