GLENVIEW (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A pedestrian hit by a police car in north suburban Glenview Tuesday morning has died.
The crash happened just after 5 a.m. Tuesday, before the sun came up, on a stretch of Milwaukee Avenue, north of Golf Road, where there are fast food restaurants and other businesses.
Glenview Police said a Cook County Sheriff’s Department SUV hit a pedestrian.
The 28-year-old Chicago woman was taken to the hospital where she died Wednesday afternoon.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified her as Mercedes Smith of the Near West Side.
Police have not shared other details but said a regional law enforcement team is helping with their investigation.
