Family and friends gathered Monday night in north suburban Glenview to remember 17-year-old Marko Niketic who died in a crash one year ago.
Some wore black t-shirts with a picture of Marko and others brought fresh flowers to the memorial along busy Lake Avenue.
Marko's older brother Luka and his parents were lifted by the large turnout for the vigil led by priests from their Serbian Orthodox Cathedral.
Gordana Niketic says her son's friends have been a great comfort over the last year by regularly checking on her.
Jordyn Matles, who just returned home from her freshman year in college, says she feels Marko's presence at the site.
