LAKEMOOR (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A Grayslake woman is charged with spitting in deputies faces Tuesday night.

A Lake County Sheriff’s lieutenant noticed a car sitting in a ditch near the entrance to Fish Lake Beach in Volo. The driver then tried to back out and hit a utility pole.

32-year-old Kiara Pearson of Grayslake was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.

While being processed at the Lakemoor Police Department, officials said Pearson spit in two sheriff’s deputies’ faces, then “bragged” about having a communicable disease.

The deputies were evaluated at a hospital and will undergo additional testing to determine if they were infected.

Pearson is now charged with two counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer and driving under the influence of alcohol.
