CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Chicago-based Pro-Life Action League will be hanging anti-abortion banners from bridges in Chicago and several other cities today.

Eric Scheidler, the Pro-Life Action League’s executive director, said there will be banners hanging from bridges in 48 big cities including Chicago, Los Angeles, Memphis and Manchester, N.H. Each will read “Abortion Takes a Human Life."

Scheidler said the idea is to get people talking. The director of the Pro-Life Action League expects the sight of banners hanging from bridges in 48 big cities around the U.S. will spark discussions and he thinks that’s a good thing.

"We feel very confident that whenever people with each other honestly talk about abortion, it advances the pro-life cause, because abortion is something people are very uncomfortable with," Scheidler said.

"When people have private conversations, they will admit that discomfort to each other."

While the Dobbs v Jackson case that over turned Roe v Wade played out over decades in the courts, Scheidler said the new battlegrounds will be in the state capitols.

He said that's where lawmakers are proposing restrictions on abortion and crucial votes will be taken.
