(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Chicago-based non-profit is hoping to help teachers and students with a special school-supply giveaway.
For 12 years, Back 2 School America has given children in need school supplies.
During the Covid pandemic, Associate Director Steven Sartin said, their efforts expanded to help educators because all too often “teachers give their own paychecks to help students have what they need.”
So, B2SA launched their "We Appreciate Teachers" contest on their website to give back to educators in Illinois.
"Anybody can nominate a teacher. It can be even the teacher themselves,” he said.
Nominations can be made through April 1, and 25 winners will receive a gift basket as well as school supply kits for their classrooms.
The winning teachers will also be treated to a champagne and hor d'oeuvres reception in Chicago.
“We're hoping that what it does is that it motivates them to just keep teaching,” Sartin said.
