CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A little bit of preparation can prevent more grief after you die.
Ed Gjertsen, Certified Financial Planner & Founder of Engage Wealth Group in Chicago told the WBBM Noon Business Hour that it's important to have a will and estate plan.
He said some people assume an estate plan only applies to the wealthy.
"The word estate plan may lead some to believe you need to have a sizeable net worth and assets before considering these documents, and this could not be further from the truth," Gjertsen said.
Gjertsen added crafting an estate plan while you're alive ensures that your loved ones won't be fretting over your finances during your funeral.
"It should be a celebration of someone's life, not having to worry about the angst of what's next," he said.
