(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Residents of Hawthorn Woods and other parts of southern Lake County, who have been under a boil advisory since Sunday, said they don’t know when regular water service will return as Aqua Illinois works to address low pressure and water outages.
Aqua put customers in the area under a boil advisory due to what it described as a “severe drought” facing the region.
As a result, Aqua said it's addressing low pressure and water outages and has asked all customers to use bottled water or to boil all water for consumption.
The company also asked consumers to conserve as much water as possible. Residents, though, said there isn’t any water to save — given that the shutoffs began on Sunday.
Residents added that they haven’t received any direct communication from Aqua explaining the exact problem that the company is fixing, and they don’t know how long the shutoff will last.
In a post to its Facebook page on Tuesday, the Village of Hawthorn Woods shared a message it received from Aqua Illinois, in which company officials said they are working “around the clock” to return service to its customers.
Aqua officials said they will host a bottled water distribution center at the Hawthorn Woods Aquatic Center from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
