CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - An argument led to a shooting this morning outside the Streeterville Whole Foods Market.

According to Chicago Police, the incident occurred around 8:35 a.m. near the grocery store on Grand and Columbus. Downtown Alder. Second Ward Alderman Brian Hopkins said a suspect is in custody.

Two men became engaged in a verbal argument when one of them pulled out a gun and began shooting in the direction of the victim, police said.

The victim, 50, suffered a gunshot wounded to the left shoulder and was sent to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He was listed in good condition, police said.

Officers recovered a weapon at the scene.

A witness told WBBM's Brandon Ison that he saw the suspected shooter ran into the Whole Foods parking garage. He said the man with shoulder length dreadlocks had been harassing him and his work crew before the incident.

Hopkins issued a community alert Friday afternoon, saying police have arrested a person of interest. He added that this appeared to be an isolated incident and there's no threat to the public.
