CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - There was a fire overnight on the West Side at one of the oldest buildings in the City of Chicago.
The Seth Warner House was built in 1869, at 631 N. Central in the Austin neighborhood, two years before the Great Chicago Fire, and before Austin was even part of the City of Chicago.
Early Thursday morning, there was a fire there, no word yet on the extent of damages. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built by one of Chicago’s earliest settlers, Seth Warner, who was a blacksmith, abolitionist and a music lover.
According to the City, when Warner built his house, it was part of a nearly seven-acre farm.
