(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A suburban man will spend less than a week in prison for his participation in the Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol in 2021.

Tyng-Jing Yang of Hoffman Estates was sentenced to six days in prison for grabbing a police officer's baton as officers tried to clear the Capitol Rotunda during assault on the building.

Prosecutors say Yang, 61, at one point also grabbed an officer’s wrist.

In September, Yang pleaded guilty to civil disorder. Before sentencing, he told the judge he became emotional and erred by following people into the Capitol that day.

Yang was also given two years of probation.
