(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul says his office is organizing an effort to protect voters' rights on Election Day.
Raoul said Election Day monitoring has been a longstanding practice of his office.
That continues this year, he said, with more than 200 teams of assistant attorneys general and investigators expected to be out on Election Day to ensure that voters’ rights are protected and polling places are accessible.
Raoul also reminded voters to review their own voting rights. Illinoisans have a right to vote If they are in line when the polls close at 7 p.m., he said. If a voter makes a mistake or "spoils" a paper ballot — and has not yet cast his or her vote — the voter has a right to receive a replacement ballot.
Anyone who feels their voting rights are being violated can report it to the attorney general’s office.
