CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Illinois Attorney General Kwame Roaul is seeking answers from Facebook on a program that promotes COVID-19 disinformation.
Internal Facebook documents shared by a whistleblower revealed that Facebook has a list of users under the project named "X check" that allows millions of celebrities, politicians and journalists to share content in violation of Facebook rules.
This past week, Raoul joined a coalition of 14 attorneys general urging Facebook to disclose whether people who spread falsehoods and misled Americans about the safety of the coronavirus vaccines were granted protection to evade enforcement rules.
They also wanted Facebook to reveal which users were allowed to spread disinformation.
