(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A former Republican leader said a lack of money and unity may be among the reasons that GOP hopeful Darren Bailey fell short in the race for governor of Illinois.

Former Cook County Commissioner Tim Schneider once chaired the Illinois Republican Party and he said one current problem the state GOP has is that there are four types of Republicans- pro-life Republicans in southern Illinois, pro-choice Republicans in the North, pro-Trump Republicans, and "never-Trumpers"-. He said they can’t seem to get on the same bus. He added the GOP couldn’t match J.B. Pritzker’s money.

“I just don’t think that Darren Bailey got his message across  or the independent expenditure PAC got their message across to voters, it’s quite obvious,” Schneider said.

There’s no doubt ads paid for by a political action committee did have an impact , arguably just not enough of one.
