(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Illinois voters can now start requesting mail-in ballots for the June 28 primary election.
Chicago voters can apply for the vote-by-mail ballots now online at chicagoelections.gov, and voters outside the city can contact their county clerk or election authority.
The ballots are expected to be finalized by late April. Vote-by-mail ballots are scheduled to be sent out to applicants May 19.
Under a new Illinois law, voters also will be asked if they want to join a permanent vote-by-mail list, to have their ballot sent to their preferred address ahead of every election.
