(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — To encourage more people in Illinois to get COVID-19 vaccines, Gov. Pritzker has announced a vaccination lottery with big cash prizes.
Pritzker said he hopes the "All In For The Win" drawing will encourage Illinois residents who have not been vaccinated to get their shots.
The lottery will give away a total of $10 million, with $7 million going to adult winners and another $3 million providing college funds for those between the ages of 12 and 17.
For the adult winners, three $1 million jackpots will be awarded, in addition to 40 cash prizes of $100,000.
Vaccinated youths will be entered into a "scholarship pool," from which 20 scholarships of $150,000 will be awarded.
The money comes from federal COVID-19 relief aid.
Only those people who have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine by July 1 will qualify for the first drawing on July 8, Pritzker said. Anyone who is vaccinated is automatically entered in the lottery.
The Illinois Department of Public Health will notify winners.
