(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Indiana has been seeing a lot more visitors since becoming a National Park.

Park ranger Bruce Rowe said the park has seen a remarkable increase in visitation with the name change in February of 2019.

He told the Times of Northwest Indiana that attendance went from generally less than 2 million to around 3 million visitors each of the last two years. He said visitors are from all over the place.

"We saw a remarkable increase in visitation with our name change in February of 2019."

Changing it from a National Lakeshore to a national park made it a destination for more people, especially those with National Park bucket lists.
