(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The Governor of Indiana is calling the legislature into special session to consider anti-abortion laws now that the Supreme Court has overturned Roe vs. Wade.

Indiana Governor Eric Holcolmb said he has called the general assembly into special session on July 6th to consider anti-abortion laws now that the Supreme Court has overturned Roe v. Wade.

In march, Republican lawmakers wrote a letter to the governor asking for a special session in the event Roe was struck down.

In a statement, Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita called the Supreme Court decision “a historic win for life.”

Rokita praised the six justices who voted to overturn Roe v.  Wade, which he calls “one of the worst travesties in the nation's history. “

He said the ruling will allow Indiana to legislate and enforce laws that protect lives.
