(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – The acting head of the Chicago Police Department has promised an internal investigation after someone involved with managing CPD’s Twitter account recently “liked” a tweet that was seen as anti-transgender.

“The Chicago Police Department does not tolerate bigotry,” Interim Supt. Eric Carter said in a statement Friday. “CPD is made up of a diverse group of Chicagoans who are committed to serving our city. We will continue working to support and advocate for every community, including our LGBTQ+ community, so that everyone feels safe and welcome.”

At issue, the Chicago Sun-Times reports, is a photo showing CPD’s official account liked a post Wednesday by Travis Tritt. The performer condemned a business relationship between Anheuser-Busch and a transgender influencer and threatened to boycott Bud Light products on his tour.

It’s one of the latest flashpoints involving conservative public figures or celebrities who are pushing back at transgender culture.

“This week, there was an unauthorized "like" of a tweet that does not represent the values of our Department,” Supt. Carter said. “We take this matter seriously and have launched an internal investigation into the matter.
