Super Bowl Sunday leads to “Super Sick Monday.”
Some studies say one in five workers do not go to work on the Monday after the Super Bowl, and most call in sick that day.
“Most of them are last minute call-ins, saying, ‘you know what, I’m either sick,’ or they will just be honest and admit, ‘I over did it yesterday, I won’t be very productive today, so maybe it’s best if I take the day off,’” Robert Half jobs expert Michelle Reisdorf told the WBBM Noon Business Hour.
Reisdorf said businesses know the day after the Super Bowl will be a day of reduced productivity.
“I know myself as a manger, I moved a couple of meetings, knowing that two of my managers had taken a pre-planned day off, they were hosting parties, and they had plans for it,” Reisdorf added.
Some states have moved toward making Super Bowl Monday an official holiday. Some businesses even give away a post-Super Bowl vacation day as a bonus for good work.
