Kane County Board members approved a plan to use its federal recovery funds to ensure that its water supply is high quality and sustainable.
More than $800,000 will go toward databases that will monitor long-term drinking water supply. They'll create and maintain a webpage that will highlight groundwater supplies and also future projected water supplies. They will also develop an education program that focuses on water demand challenges and how to solved those problems. Finally, they'll investigate how salt on the roads in the winter impacts Kane County's drinking water.
The money comes from the American Rescue Plan passed by Congress last year.
