PARK RIDGE, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Parents seeking relief from temperatures in the 90's are heading to the water.

The Prospect Park Splash Pad is living up to its name with plenty of kids splashing around in the play area.

Even after running through the sprinklers at the Prospect Park Splash Pad, the heat can be tough. So many of the families here turn to a summer staple – the popsicle.

"The coldest flavor is strawberry," said one young visitor.

Ivy Belle Graham said she’s better equipped to handle the extreme heat than the children she nannies for.
"I'm use to this in some way, because I'm a Jamaican," she said.

Storm flooding has caused the Splash Pad in Glenview’s Little Bear Park to close. The park district there wrote on social media "We know the timing is not ideal and staff is pumping out a mechanical vault to assess the situation."
