(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - There's a call for north suburban Republicans to cancel a gun raffle they're holding in light of massacres in Uvalde, Texas and Buffalo, New York.
Lake County Democratic Party Chair Lauren Beth Gash calls the gun raffle being held by Lake County Republicans on June 16, offensive. She said canceling the raffle is the least the GOP can do since it won't join with Democrats in passing common sense gun safety laws.
The gun raffle is part of the annual Lake County Republicans' golf outing. One of the five guns being raffled is an AR-15-type weapon. Vice-chair Dick Barr told the Daily Herald he has pulled down a Facebook post promoting the gun raffle, which he said raises money to fund scholarships at five high schools.
It's not been determined whether Republicans will cancel the gun raffle itself.
