CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Another construction project will cause closures in downtown Chicago, starting Monday, due to bridge and viaduct repairs on DuSable Lake Shore Drive.

The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) announced crews will be repairing the DuSable Lake Shore Drive bridge and viaduct network over the Odgen slip, located north of the Chicago River.

Construction began Monday at 9 a.m. and is expected to last until the beginning of summer 2024, CDOT officials said.

As a result of the road work, the lower level of DuSable Lake Shore Drive will be reduced to two lanes between Randolph Street and Grand Avenue.

On Oct. 9, the upper level of DuSable Lake Shore Drive will be reduced to three lanes in each direction between Monroe and Ontario Streets. Officials said additional lane closures will take place during non-peak hours.
