(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The parents of convicted murderer Christopher Vaughn have filed a federal lawsuit, in which they claimed their son didn't get a fair trial in Will County.
Vaughn, of Oswego, is serving a life sentence for murdering his wife Kimberly and their three children in 2007.
His parents, from Missouri, have questions about the DNA evidence collected and presented during the trial. They want a new trial.
The Tribune reported that Pierre and Gail Vaughn's federal lawsuit claimed investigators misled the grand jury, which violated their son's right to a fair trial.
Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow told the paper that the state called 90 witnesses to the stand, after which the jury returned a guilty verdict in 60 minutes.
