(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Grindr, which bills itself as the No. 1 free dating app serving the LGBTQ+ community, has announced plans to open what will be its largest global engineering hub in Chicago's Loop.
Grindr officials said they’re initially planning to have more than 50 employees at the engineering center, which will open at 230 W. Monroe St.
As the company grows, that number could increase.
Grindr's headquarters are in Los Angeles, but company officials said the majority of its engineers are in Chicago.
The Chicago hub will serve as the primary base for Grindr's engineers, and Grindr leaders said they chose Chicago because of the city’s "growing technology ecosystem."
