CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Mayor Lori Lightfoot is dismissing harsh criticisms of her from a top official with the Chicago Teachers Union.

In an interview for a Sun-Times podcast, Chicago Teachers Union Vice President Stacy Davis Gates called Mayor Lightfoot a "micromanaging, name calling, bad boss who can't get along with anyone, let alone the teachers union."

Speaking from Washington, D.C., Mayor Lightfoot waved off the remarks.

"I really don't think that those comments are worthy of any kind of response. This isn't junior high school. We are talking about very serious issues involving the feature of our children in Chicago Public Schools. I will not allow anybody to politicize that issue, and I certainly will not allow somebody to drag me into a 'he said, she said' juvenile name-calling fight," Lightfoot said.

"...The truth of the matter is, there are 40 unions across city government; we have great relations, productive relations, professional relations with every single one except two: FOP and CTU."

Stacy Davis Gates' name has come up as a possible challenger to any Lightfoot reelection bid, although she has not confirmed that and the mayor will not comment.
