(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot last night detailed the results of her investigation into the finances of the Village of Dolton under Mayor Tiffany Henyard.

Lightfoot noted excessive spending – much of which can’t be tracked. This included statements from credit cards, but no explanation for purchases from Best Buy, Wayfair and Amazon.

This included $775,000 in 2023, $200,000 on Amazon, more than $100,000 on travel.

And, Lightfoot said, there was “very little oversight.”

“Beginning at least as early as late 2021. There was a concerted, systematic effort on behalf of Mayor Henyard and others in her administration to hide the true financial condition of the Village of Dolton from the trustees and from members of the public,” Lightfood said.

Lightfoot, a former federal prosecutor, was hired by Village Trustees to shed light on the spending.
