LOCKPORT (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Lockport Township High School District 205 is making plans to move students to another school following the collapse last week of a ceiling in a classroom in the Central High School Campus, which serves freshmen.

School Superintendent Robert McBride said during an emergency board meeting that repairs at the 114-year-old Central Campus building are going to take time.

"We will likely have Lockport Central Campus closed much longer than we initially thought," McBride said.

For students and teachers, it’s like returning to the Covid shut-down when they were forced to conduct E-learning.

Everyone wants to return to in-person learning as soon as possible. Now, plans are being made to move the freshmen to Lincoln-Way North High School in Frankfort, which has been closed since 2016.
