WBBM talked to a few people on the streets of Chicago to see what they thought about this year's lineup.
“I really think Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish and Red Hot Chilli Peppers, not similar genres but I think it’s really cool that they’ll be playing together,” Erebus said.
The music festival is famous for its unique something-for-everyone lineup. This year is no different as the artists listed span across different genres and music styles.
“I think the Lollapalooza lineup is really awesome. I didn’t go last year, I wasn't able to see J-Hope but I’m going this year to see Tomorrow X Together, most definitely,” Jay’onna said.
BTS’ J-Hope made history last year as the first ever South Korean artist to headline a main stage at a major American music festival. Chicagoans differed in excitement over the upcoming lineup news. This year Karol G will also make history as the first female Latin artist to headline the festival.
“I wouldn’t go because I don’t think Lana Del Rey is that important anymore but I would go see Kendrick Lamar but that’s it,” Sonya said.
Both Kendrick Lamar and Lana Del Rey are expected to play hits from their newsest albums. Audiences are excited to hear Lamar’s Grammy award winning album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. Lana Del Rey fans will be the first to hear Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd live.
“I just don’t like the line up. None of the people look interesting,” Skylur said.
Other notable acts include Maggie Rogers, Carly Rae Jepsen, Diplo, Thirty Seconds to Mars, A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, J.I.D. and more. There are nine stages at Lollapalooza and more than 400,000 usually attend from across the world.
“I’m visiting Chicago right now and looking at the lineup, I’m probably going to come back in August,” Devon said.
