(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — An elderly Lombard man has been charged with murdering his wife during an argument early Friday morning.
Charles Witter, 81, is being detained pretrial after he was charged with shooting and killing his wife.
According to the DuPage County State's Attorney's office, just before 12:40 a.m., Witter called 911, requesting police assistance.
When officers arrived at the Lombard home, they found 80-year-old Helen Witter unconscious with blood coming from her head. She was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Initial reports indicate that Witter shot his wife while the couple was in bed arguing.
His next court appearance is scheduled for February 10, 2025.
Lombard police are investigating.
