CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A suburb known for chocolate is having a weekend festival that’s smaller than usual, but chock full of tasty treats and entertainment.
Due to pandemic-related restrictions, Long Grove is hosting a "bite-sized" event this year celebrating all things chocolate.
For the Love of Chocolate: Long Grove’s Bite-Size Celebration will take place May 14-16, and will include demos, classes, presentations, experiences, vendors, chocolatiers, entertainment, and more.
Guests will be able to learn about the history of chocolate, how it’s grown, sourced, and made. Additionally they will learn how to taste craft chocolate correctly.
Industry experts will also be on hand to entertain, educate, energize, and engage attendees into the wonderful world of chocolate, organizers said in a statement.
A chocolate sculpture from Wisconsin will make new creations each day; and there will also be a Chocolate For Your Soul yoga class. Plus, in the Chocolate Expo Tent, there will be talks and demonstrations on the health benefits of chocolate: how the colors of chocolate can be used in doing make-up and even the benefits of incorporating chocolate into massages and facials.
The fest opens Friday, May 14, with a "VIP Chocolate Night," which is a separately ticketed event offering a sampling of the weekend festivities. VIP attendees will receive swag bags and other specials; plus can enjoy live music and order chocolate-infused drinks at the Chocolate Bar.
Vendors will line Robert Parker Coffin Road, which will be closed to traffic.
The event will also have multiple stages set up featuring live entertainment throughout the weekend.
Mandatory registration and tickets became available in early April at http://longgrove.org/festivals/for-the-love-of-chocolate/. Tickets are $20 to $35.
