CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- With Christmas less than two weeks away, people eager to get COVID-19 booster shots lined up at one of three mass vaccination sites in Cook County Sunday.
David, who chose not to give his last name and is from Mount Prospect, arrived an hour and a half before the doors at the Arlington Heights Health Center opened. He was one of several people WBBM Newsradio spoke to who said this was the earliest opportunity they could find to get a booster.
“I went to Walgreens’ website and it was and it was not ‘til Christmas. And, so, I figured I’d just come over here. There’s no Bears’ game yet,” David said.
He said he was spurred to get it sooner because a fully-vaccinated friend contracted COVID-19. Judy, who chose not to give her last name and is from Northbrook, said she wanted this assurance before the holidays as well.
“I’m actually going to be driving to Florida after Christmas so it’s just better to, you know, why not, right?” she told WBBM Newsradio.
Other locations for County and state run mass vaccination sites are in North Riverside and Blue Island. The location in Arlington Heights will be open until 4 p.m.
