CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Police are looking for a man who allegedly tried to lure a child on the way to school Tuesday in Little Village on Chicago’s Southwest Side.
As families are getting ready for school this morning, police said a man standing on the sidewalk near 24th and Trumbull tried to wave at a girl over Tuesday.
She crossed the street to avoid him, and police said he got into an SUV and drove alongside her. As she kept walking he began asking her questions, like how old she is, where she was going, what social media she’s on and how he could contact her.
Police said the girl did not respond, and the man in his 20s or 30s drove off in a grey GMC Acadia.
Police discourage parents from letting their children walk alone and encourage them to find trusted neighbors or businesses that can serve as safe havens along the route to school.
