
COOK COUNTY (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A Chicago man is facing charges for allegedly attempting to lure a minor into his SUV.
It happened this week at 50th and Long Avenue in unincorporated Stickney Township.
Cook County Sheriff's officials met with the victim and learned that while walking home from school, a man in a silver SUV drove up to the curb and followed the child for about a block.
The victim told officers that the offender would not leave and kept following.
Detectives identified the offender as 39-year-old Arley Carrillo Mendez, who was arrested at his home at 49th and Laramie Avenue.
Mendez faces one count of child abduction and luring of a minor, a class four felony.
Tuesday, a judge ordered him released on electronic monitoring.
