(WBBM Newsradio) — A 39-year-old West Chicago man is being held on $500,000 bond after allegedly trying to suffocate his mother with a pillow last week, authorities in DuPage County said.
Bryan Jones allegedly entered his mother’s bedroom early Dec. 22 and placed a large pillow over her face, holding it there, the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office said.
The woman was able to free herself and summon police to the residence in the 200 block of Arbor Avenue.
Jones faces felony charges that include attempted first-degree murder and aggravated domestic battery. He’s next due in court Jan. 6, officials said.
“The allegations against Mr. Jones are very disturbing,” State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said in a news release. “We are all grateful that the victim in this case was able to free herself and contact authorities before it was too late.”
