(WBBM NEWSRADIO) --A second person is now in custody in connection with a west suburban home invasion and shooting earlier this year.
Jose L. Melendez of St. Charles was arrested by Kane County Sheriff's Deputies in connection with a home invasion and shooting in St. Charles on January 14.
Police believe Melendez, 26 year old James Gheradini of Lindenhurst, and Panagiotis Koutrumbis of Lindenhurst entered an apartment in the 100 block of walnut drive through a glass door.
They zip tied the hands of several people who were in the unit at the time. Police said one of the people managed to call another person, who drove to the apartment and opened fire on the three men.
Geradini was hit and later died. Koutrumbis was taken into custody and is charged with home invasion, attempted first degree murder, and aggravated unlawful restraint.
